May 2, 2010

The following is the text of a press conference at Nalchik where B. Munguntuul answers questions from the organizers of the FIDE tournament.

Which visit to Nalchik has been better for you –the present one or your first experience?

This time I haven’t been anywhere yet, but two years ago we were taken to Chegemsky Waterfalls, Blue Lakes, Elbrus mountain… we even managed to rise up to the mountains. The impressions are unforgettable.

One of the stages of Grand Prix tournament will be organized in Mongolia. Can you tell us about details of the preparations?

They are preparing in a very serious way. The matches will be held in one or two of the big hotels which have good playing halls and appropriate conditions.

Tell us about Mongolian people’s interest in chess. How popular is it in general and in particular what brought you to chess?

Every Mongolian family has somebody who plays chess; it is so popular in the country. My father used to play, and he taught my elder brother and sister, and then me. The other two gradually lost interest but I got hooked.

How do you speak so good Russian?

I’m a fifth year student at the Russian State Social University.
